Hello and welcome to our page, you sure do love adorable things in your cart, don’t you? Welcome to our small business and thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We are a small family-owned business based in Melbourne, Australia. Our goal is to build our own ethical & sustainable marketplace for clothing, toys, and much more whilst improving the lifestyles of handmade artisans.
Our brand name describes “ILA” which means “Earth” in Sanskrit and is also an abbreviation of “I love adorable things in my kart”. Our main goal is to do right by the earth while ensuring you always have adorable things in your shopping kart.
Most of our clothes are made from organic cotton, and natural fibers, and involve the use of handmade textiles. These clothes are handwoven by artisans and weaver groups across India. The dyes used have a low impact on the environment and are eco-friendly. We care for everything and everyone involved in the process.
Our handmade dolls are aimed to empower rural women across India to take control of their careers, their families, and their lives, & provide employment. It is not the toys that you can gift your little one, but the opportunity of employment you are creating. It is not about filling your little one’s closet with beautiful things, perhaps for the first time- to the idea that there are humans behind these things.
Playtime is much more interesting that way. Trust us they will enjoy the story, love & respect their toy even more! These dolls are stylish, child-friendly, handcrafted, and environmentally friendly. My daughter was besotted with her naptime companion.
We have partnered with some beautiful and sustainable brands that have the same purpose and vision as us and we want to bring their beautiful designs to families across Australia. When you buy from us, you are helping in supporting a small, sustainable, and mostly handiwork business. You are also supporting employment for skilled artisans.
